General Contractors Association of Hawaii Members Raise Nearly $60,000 for the Institute for Human Services
Members of the General Contractors Association of Hawaii (GCA), the state’s largest construction association, raised nearly $60,000 for the Institute for Human Services (IHS), Hawaii’s largest and most comprehensive human services agency dedicated solely to ending or preventing homelessness.
Each year, IHS serves more than 6,000 people, providing shelter, meals, health services, childcare, job training, and rental assistance.
The fundraising effort was part of the GCA’s annual Give Back to the Community program, in which the GCA president picks a nonprofit organization to be the recipient of the generosity of its members.
“We’re very pleased to be able to help IHS continue to have a positive impact on homelessness in our community,” said Dale Sakamoto Yoneda, GCA president for 2022. “At a time when those in the construction industry are facing supply-chain and price escalation challenges, GCA members stepped forward and generously gave to support individuals and families without homes to ensure they receive the social and medical support they need, and receive help with finding employment.
